Safe Baby Court is a specialized, early intervention court program for families of infants and toddlers, up to 3 years old. This program works collaboratively with the Juvenile Court, DCS, and a team of professionals to assist parents along their journey to reunification by connecting them to peer services, resources, education, etc. through monthly team meetings and court hearings. This project is funded under a Grant Contract with the State of
Tennessee, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
Thriving Together TN currently coordinates Safe Baby Court programs for Rutherford, Cannon, and Henry County, TN.
Here's a WRKN News story from 2023 that helps explain how the program works and what impact it has on families with young children.
"My family and I will always be so incredibly thankful for Safe Baby Court. When our son was born, I was living a life of powerlessness and denial. My addiction had been the driving force in my life for several years. SBC put me on the path to recovery and reunited us with our baby boy. Our lives have done nothing but blossom ever since. SBC will forever have a special place in our hearts. Thank You!”
-Austin, 2023 Rutherford Co. Graduate

Family Forward is a comprehensive recovery-oriented program designed to address a critical gap in services within our community by extending wrap-around, stabilizing resources and certified peer support to families with children who are at risk for separation due to substance use and mental health. The program works to address each family's unique needs, including increasing social capital, protective factors, and family autonomy so that children can stay safe and nurtured by their parents/caregivers. Family Forward is provided at no cost to participating families in Rutherford County. This program is funded in part by the Rutherford County Opioid Board and Kymari House, through United Way of South Central TN.
Safe Baby Court is funded by a grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (TDMHSAS).
